Stop It You're Killing Me - Waiting for Love EP (promo disc)
I
don't know if its a reference to the Therapy song or the film that has the tagline
"A Witch, A Bitch, 2 Creeps
and a Lover", but, what I do know is that Stop It You're
Killing Me (SIYKM) isn't one of the greatest band names I've ever
heard! But who cares about their name? I
hear you ask. What about their music, mannn? Onwards then!
SIYKM does remind me a little of the gutteral rock of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster (TEMBLD)
particularly on the last track "Bitch". However, the vocals
are more tuneful and they have more actual tunes (re: melody).
Whereas an album full of TEMBLD songs tends to grate on repeat
listens from what I've
heard so far this won't be the case with SIYKM.
With only four tracks coming in at just over 8 minutes this release may be short but it
does its job, a taster that leaves you wanting more. All of the songs on the EP are quality, however, the third
track "Children" is the special one (as Jose would say) with its great hook.
The Waiting For Love EP is a polished effort and if they
can keep this standard up on their LP they should be going places.
